Counselling FAQs
What can I expect in a first session?
Who is counselling for at Sky View?
How does the process work?
Is therapy confidential?
The first session is an opportunity to get to know each other, talk about what has brought you to counselling and discuss what you would like support with. There is no pressure to share everything at once, and sessions progress at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
Counselling is available for adults, children and young people. Sessions are tailored to each person’s age, individual needs, experiences, strengths and goals.
After booking an appointment, we will begin by discussing your needs and what you hope to gain from counselling. Together, we can consider an approach that feels appropriate and comfortable for you.
Your privacy and confidentiality are important. Information shared during therapy is treated confidentially in accordance with professional and legal requirements. There are some circumstances where information may need to be shared for safety or legal reasons, and these limits will be discussed with you.
Equine-Assisted Therapy FAQs

What is a typical session like?
Sessions are grounded in gentle, non-riding activities with horses, such as observation, simple interaction and being present in a quiet rural environment. What happens in a session depends on your needs, comfort and goals, and there is space to move at a pace that feels manageable for you.

How do horses help in therapy?
Horses are naturally sensitive and responsive to their surroundings, which can create opportunities for observation, reflection and learning about ourselves within a professionally facilitated therapeutic process. The focus is on how you experience and make sense of these interactions, rather than on horses ‘fixing’ or ‘curing’ difficulties.

Is it safe, and do I need horse experience?
Safety is a priority. Sessions are designed around ground-based activities, and you will be supported in how to safely be around and interact with the horses. You do not need any prior horse experience, and activities are adapted to your comfort level and needs.
