Privacy Policy
1. About this Privacy Policy
Sky View Counselling & Equine Therapy respects your privacy and is committed to protecting personal and health information.
This Privacy Policy explains how personal and health information is collected, used, stored and disclosed when you make an enquiry, access counselling or equine-assisted therapy, communicate with Sky View, or otherwise interact with the service.
Sky View handles personal and health information in accordance with applicable Australian and Victorian privacy and health-records requirements, including the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), Australian Privacy Principles and Health Records Act 2001 (Vic).
2. Information We May Collect
Depending on your interaction with Sky View, information collected may include your name, date of birth, contact details, emergency contact information, enquiry information, appointment details, health and wellbeing information, relevant personal history, therapeutic goals, clinical notes, correspondence, consent information, payment and billing information, and information provided by a parent, carer, guardian, referrer or other professional where appropriate.
For children and young people, information may also be collected from a parent, carer or guardian where appropriate.
Sky View aims to collect only information reasonably necessary to provide safe and appropriate services and administer the practice.
3. How Information Is Collected
Information may be collected directly from you through website enquiry forms, intake and consent forms, telephone calls, email, SMS, appointments and therapeutic sessions.
Information may also be received from another person or service where you have consented, where a parent or guardian is appropriately providing information for a child or young person, or where collection is otherwise permitted or required by law.
4. Why Information Is Collected and Used
Personal and health information may be used to assess enquiries, determine whether Sky View is an appropriate service, provide counselling or equine-assisted therapy, manage appointments, communicate with clients and parents/carers where appropriate, maintain clinical records, process payments and invoices, manage safety and risk, meet professional and legal obligations, and administer the practice.
5. Storage and Security
Sky View takes reasonable steps to protect personal and health information from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.
Client and clinical information may be stored electronically using Halaxy practice-management software and other secure systems used for the administration of the practice. Halaxy states that its data is stored in Australia. Information may also be held in other electronic or physical records where required.
6. Disclosure of Information
Personal or health information will not ordinarily be disclosed to another person or organisation without consent unless the disclosure is reasonably necessary for the provision of services, has been authorised by you, or is permitted or required by law.
There may be circumstances in which information needs to be disclosed because of serious safety concerns, mandatory or other legal obligations, or professional requirements.
Professional supervision or consultation may also be used to support safe and ethical practice. Where possible, identifying information will be minimised.
7. Third-Party Services and Overseas Disclosure
Sky View uses third-party services to assist with practice administration, website operation and client management. These providers may have their own privacy policies and information-handling practices.
Halaxy states that its data is stored in Australia, although some optional integrations or third-party services may involve disclosure of information to recipients outside Australia. Sky View will take reasonable steps when selecting and using services that handle personal or health information.
8. Website and Online Enquiries
Information submitted through the Sky View website, including the New Client Enquiry form, is used to respond to your enquiry and assess whether Sky View may be an appropriate service for your needs.
Submitting an enquiry does not establish a therapeutic relationship or confirm an appointment.
9. Access and Correction
You may request access to personal or health information held about you or ask for information to be corrected if you believe it is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date.
Access may be subject to exceptions permitted by applicable privacy and health-records legislation.
